Mediation and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners
If you are a parent, you have ongoing responsibilities for your children under the age of 18, regardless of whether you are separated, divorced, re-married, re-partnered or have never lived together.
Except in limited circumstances, Australian family law requires parents to engage in Family Dispute Resolution to try and reach an agreement in relation to the arrangements for their children, prior to issuing Family Court proceedings for Parenting Orders. Family Dispute Resolution or FDR for short, is a special form of Mediation that adopts a child focused approach to assist separating parties in building a safe environment in which children can live, learn and mature.
Whilst there is currently no obligation to engage in Mediation prior to issuing Family Court proceedings for Property Orders, it could assist you to reach a solution to your property dispute quickly and without the need for costly Family Court proceedings.
